Subject: Advice of upcoming fields changes to some Small Sided Games (July-August 2011)
Football Gympie has advised that they have successfully been granted funds from the Qld Government as a result of the recent floods, and are putting to good use the windfall in the form of much-needed resurfacing of the SSG fields 3A, 3B, 4A and 4B.
This work is scheduled for some time in July-August 2011, and as a result all games that are previously scheduled for fields 3 and 4 after the commencement of works will be then played on field 11. Please see map below for details.
Please note that games will continue as scheduled up till closer to the works date.

Proposed temporary assignment - Field 11 to be marked for SSG - while resurfacing work on Fields 3A, 3B, 4A and 4B is performed.

Subject: NATIONAL SPECTATOR CODE OF CONDUCT
At this stage of the season we are making this timely reminder for all our parents, supporters and spectators to make themselves aware of the FFA Regulation concerning spectator behaviour at matches. A number of incidents involving disparaging remarks from specific parents towards an opposing sides' player(s) and team coaches, has prompted Gympie Diggers Football Club to take the pre-emptive position of reminding those offending parents of their obligations and reponsibilities when attending as spectators at matches.
Please familiarise yourself with the following FFA Document -
National Spectator Code of Behaviour
Please pay particular attention to points included at (c); (d); and (e), namely:
(c) respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person regardless of their gender,
ability, race, colour, religion, language, politics, national or ethnic origin;
(d) not use violence in any form, whether it is against other spectators, Team Officials
(including coaches), Match Officials or Players;
(e) not engage in discrimination, harassment or abuse in any form, including the use of
obscene or offensive language or gestures, the incitement of hatred or violence or
partaking in indecent or racist chanting;
In conclusion, any infringement of the guidelines for spectator behaviour may by dealt with accordingly:
Any person who does not comply with this Spectator Code of Behaviour or who otherwise
causes a disturbance may be evicted from a venue and banned from attending future Matches.

Subject: SSF Junior Referees....Goal nets UP.....Goal nets DOWN - a message from SSF Junior Referees Supervisor
Good evening,
Could you please reinforce with the Coaches/Team Managers of divisions U/8, U/9, U/10 and 8 -10G the provision of the UP/DOWN statement on the Gympie Football Draw shown under the heading "Nets":
- It is the responsibility of the TEAMS jointly where in the "Nets" column it states "UP" to collect the package of netting equipment identified by the field of play and to erect the goal netting.
- It is the responsibility of the TEAMS jointly where in the "Nets" column it states "DOWN" to take down the goal netting, repackage the netting, pins and mallet and return same to the store.
In the last two weeks of competition other parties have been going around playing fields 7, 8A, 8B, 9 and 10 [as applicable] after everybody else has gone home taking down forgotten goal netting.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Jim Primrose
SSF Junior Referees Supervisor

Subject: Contacts for Coaches online and almost complete
The 2011 Gympie Diggers Football Club's coaching list is up and available for all players to reference as the starting point for contact with their respective team's coach.
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT IT IS GENERALLY THE PLAYER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTACT THEIR RESPECTIVE TEAM'S COACH OR MANAGER FOR INFORMATION - AND - ADVISING WHEN THEY ARE UNAVAILABLE FOR A TRAINING SESSION OR MATCH. THIS IS VITALLY IMPORTANT IN COMPETITIVE AGE TEAMS AS IT ENABLES COACHING STAFF TO ARRANGE FOR REPLACEMENTS TO PLAY UP TO FILL VACANT POSITIONS AS THEY PRESENT. Thank you for your consideration.

Subject: Message from Football Gympie - re: Reserve Benches and No BYO Alcohol
Hi Everyone,
It has come to our attention that the Reserve Benches on the far side of Field 5 were used last week. Players must use the Trolley Reserve Benches between Fields 5 and 6 at all times. The other benches must not be used. Please advise your Coaches and players.
Clubs are bringing Alcohol to the grounds. This must not happen. Clubs will be fined and the teams involved will lose ALL their points. Bringing alcohol onto the grounds involves many thousands of dollars in fines which this Association cannot afford, nor your clubs. Please inform your members of this rule.

Subject: on a lighter note... Gympie Diggers Wins March Past 2011
Gympie Diggers has won a March Past Presentation for the first time in over 17 years.
In a remarkable break from tradition, our Club realised its first place in this year's March Past Presentation to mark the opening of the Football Gympie 2011 season.
Club President Joel Albion said that it was the first one he had seen come our way in over 17 years. We were so unprepared for it that we missed getting a picture of the award being accepted. Well done everyone and we wish good luck to run on into the playing season.
We did manage to get some pics from the March Past. Take a look...

Subject: Message from FQ - Re: Small Sided Football Rules
Hi All,
As all CA’s have their sessions underway, I would like to remind all who are involved with administering, coaching or refereeing Small Sided Football which include Goal Keepers, that the following rule need to be enforced.
Goalkeeper: The goalkeeper is allowed to handle the ball anywhere in the penalty area. To restart play after a save or gathering the ball with their hands, the goalkeeper is not allowed to kick or drop kick the ball directly from their hands. The ball must be thrown or rolled from the hands or played from the ground with their feet, within 6 seconds. Opponents must be at least 5m outside the penalty area and cannot move inside the penalty area until the ball is in play. The ball is in play once it moves out of the penalty area.
I have attached a copy of the FFA SSF laws to be distributed to all whom are involved with these age groups.
Regards,
Greg Caulley,
Football Queensland,
Development Officer - Wide Bay Zone.

Reminder on the proper use of 'Skins' during Matches
(directive from Football Queensland) There has been questions raised about the ability of players to wear the skins under garments whilst playing.
The following guidelines apply.
1. If skins are worn they should be the same colour as the pre- dominant colour of the shorts.
2. If skins are not the same colour as the shorts they must be tucked up beneath the hem of the shorts. They should not be visible whilst they player is standing stationery and upright.
3. They must not come below knee level (ie: full length skins even if they are the same colour of the shorts will not be acceptable )

We are advised that there has been some amount of damage to the cricket wickets at the One Mile Ovals around where training takes place. Subject: We are open to new partnerships for the 2011 Season
Gympie Diggers Football Club is now able to bring on board a fresh group of business supporters and partners in the 2011 season.
We are actively adhering to the guidelines and directives set by FFA regarding sponsorship and support. It is suggested that all 'sponsorship' arrangements be for a period no longer than 12 months, and generally understood to be for the period consisting a season.
This new arrangement allows for a broader participation of supporting businesses taking advantage of the ability to show their support for Gympie Diggers in ways, previously precluded due to exclusive sponsorship deals.
Any interested parties, businesses, supporters and individuals are invited to tender their bid of support at their earliest convenience to the Committee for consideration. From there, all bids will be considered on their merit and an appropriate outcome will be worked through.
Please forward submissions of interest to support by mail here. or by contacting any members of the Diggers Committee.
