Gympie Diggers Football Club - Annual General Meeting
Our AGM was held at 7pm Monday 30th November, when all Committee Positions were vacated.
In clearly uncontested ballots, the respective incumbent Committee Members have retained their previous roles. Some of the positions are being undertaken in 'caretaker mode' with the provision that suitable successors can be trained up in 'mentoring' methods to take over responsibilities during the 2010 Season. See our Committee Page for descriptions of Committee positions. Anyone interested in assuming a Committee role can review the various positions and can contact the relevant Committee personnel regarding the open mentoring offers. It has been discussed that this method of transitioning Committee positions is likely to be a viable way of surehandedly passing the 'baton' to the next willing participant. If you would like to know more, feel free to contact our Committee members to discuss roles or Club-related matters at any time.

Hi Everyone,
Our games have been cancelled to day due to the very wet fields, even Field 1 is water logged and fields 2, 5 & 6 are totally out of action. They would all be classed as unsafe. The notification we received earlier that 'Football for Anzac Day, Saturday 25th April 2009, is scheduled for Senior Mens and Ladies grades only', is erroneous. It should have read 'Football for Round 4 games are scheduled for competition grades only.'

Arrangements for Wet Practice Days
This issue was raised and discussed at a recent Committee Meeting.
The consensus outcome is that we ask that players take the responsibility to call their Coaches to confirm training prospects on rain affected days.
In the event of their being substancial amounts of rain in the lead up to training day and with the forecast for imminent continuing rain, then it is fairly safe to consider the necessity to call your Team's Coach to get clarification of training being on or being pulled. This is a mandatory condition that all Coaches can expect their Players to adhere to.
The onus is on the player to advise their Coach of their non-attendance for training and for game days. It is very important to develop this healthy line of communication so that all players and Coaches can plan ahead for any gaps that present in the lineup, and to assist all Coaches to fulfil the duty of care towards their players.
It is most important that all minors (under 18 year olds) placed in the care of Coaches, indeed turn up to training and advise their respective Coaches of their regular post-training pick-up arrangements. If an occurence arises as to bring into question the immediate safety of any player awaiting collection by parent or carer - due to an iregularity in the normal pick-up arrangements - then we ask, to the best of their ability, the Coach to stay with the player unitl they are safely discharged. This is a huge ask of our Coaching resources, so we ask that all Players be picked up promptly after training and that suitable arrangements be made to advise Coaches of any digression from the norm.
All Coaches will, in the fullness of time, advise their players of their contact details so that communication lines can get up and remain healthy. To assist in this matter you can look forward to individual Team RSS feeds via the Digger's Quick-Messaging System.
Coaches headshots and contact details will be posted in the Teams Page shortly.
Thank you all for your co-operation.

Football Gympie Referees Opportunities in 2009
One of the many cool jobs involved with the game of Football is that of match Referee. The invaluable contribution of Referees to Football allows Teams to more fully focus on their game. Referees observe the rules, and lend considerable support to the palying teams with the help of their Assistants. If you're over 14 years old and interested in Refereeing duties in 2009, we encourage you to contact the Football Gympie Secretary Pam Tindall for more information. Pam can be contacted on 5482 1801. Pam receives mail at gympiesoccer@spiderweb.com.au .

PICTURES In relation to the pictures on our site - be advised that at registration, each player or parent or guardian signed a registration form that enabled the Club full use of imagery and name for publicity and promotional purpose in whatever medium. Any submission request for exclusion must be in writing and must detail the reason for the exclusion request. On the basis of the submission, the Committee will assess each request and make any necessary accommodations. A submission does not guarantee exclusion, but efforts will be made to appreciate any special circumstance. Mail your exclusion request here.
