Subject: On a sadder note
It is with regret that long-serving Diggers Life Member Brian Treeby passed away this morning. Our thoughts are with the family.

Subject: Happy Mother's Day to all our Mothers
We wish all our Mothers a happy day. Thank you for everything you are and do for us.
Also, the lucky winner of the Diggers Mother's Day Raffle drawn this morning is Joachim Klein - congratulations. You can enjoy a basket of goodies, Dinner for 2 at Mary River Motor Inn, bottle of bubbly and Country Bounty Voucher. (Joachim - contact Joel Albion on 0408 740 635 to pick up prizes)
So lets everyone, if you can, give your Mum a hug and thank her for getting you down to soccer each week...
Good on you Mums.

Welcome to 2012 Season
On behalf of the Committee I would like to welcome new players to the club and of course our returning players and families to the 2012 Football Season.

Helping Out
|
The club is happy to hear from anyone who would like to coach, manage or assist a team in any way. Coaching courses are provided throughout the season. Please contact Joel if you are interested or for more information. We are looking for assistance throughout the year in other ways, and we would appreciate your support for and participation in our regular Football Gympie working bees, where all clubs are required to chip in on small field-related tasks and our major Club fund-raising activities out at the Gympie Muster in August. If your family would like to join us, we would appreciate this very much. It is a fun weekend for the members of our club to get together to raise funds and enjoy some country music in the process. If you can help please contact either Joel or Terrence.

Training
|
Our designated training day is Thursday, with teams training for around one hour with differing start/finish times ranging between 3.30pm to 8.30pm, depending on age groups. Teams will be notified of the training times by their respective Coaches or Club Registrars. It is an insurance requirement that players wear their shin pads to training, and bringing a water bottle along is advisable to keep well hydrated. You can purchase 'Game Day' club socks and shorts at Gympie SPORTSPOWER. Check up here for notification of the first training sessions when sorted.

News
|
Gympie Diggers Football Club recently purchased our own Grandstand. It is the new one at the end of Field 1. We are in the process of having it raised to gain better viewing of the action. Diggers are proud to be the only club who has actually purchased one for the players and spectators. Sponsorship Signage space is available on the stand. Contact Joel for the options available and for other Sponsorship arrangements.

Finally, a huge thanks must go to our club Sponsors from 2011.
These included:

Please note:
We welcome contact from all our players and supporters. The following methods are good -
- For all enquiries to Committee Members we suggest that during business hours please send your enquiry through as a text message to mobile phones in the first instance, or through the respective email contacts as provided on our contacts page, and they'll get back to you ASAP.
Club President Joel - 0408 740 635 - can be contacted at most times on his mobile if you have any of the 'big' questions.
For training equipment Coaches can contact Craig - 0400 844 244 - on mobile 24hrs a day - as he requires no sleep to function - no really, he doesn't.
Registrars are the usual first point of contact for Players/Carers. (see our Contacts page for details)
We have operated by this successful method for some years now and have found it the best approach to ensure that all messages and enquiries are received and are paid the appropriate attention they deserve.

Gympie Diggers Football Club Meetings
Meetings are conducted by the Committee for and on behalf of all Members. All Members and Supporters are most welcome, and are encouraged to attend. New faces are always welcome. Coach, Manager and Parent Rep from each team is invited to attend. Have your say on any matter of concern. Gympie Diggers Club Meetings are usually held on the 2nd Monday of each month throughout the Season. Meetings usually start at around 6.3opm in the Football Gympie Clubhouse.
The next meeting is scheduled for 6.3opm, Monday, 14th May 2o12.

Sports Med Centre
If you need strapping tape applied in the correct way, go across to the Sports Med Centre next to Fields One and Two. There the qualified staff can apply strapping tape to any of your joints that may require support. An even bigger bonus is that if you supply your own tape, the fee is waivered. If you don't supply your own tape, a fee of $5 per taping applies.
High quality strapping tape in a good sized roll is available from the Clubhouse canteen at a cost of $12 per roll.
Also available is sports massage which relies on a donation in return for the service.

PICTURES
In relation to the pictures on our site - be advised that at registration, each player or parent or guardian signed a registration form that enabled the Club full use of imagery and name for publicity and promotional purpose in whatever medium. Be advised, that as a courtesy to Members, the Committee discussed an option where an individual can appeal to the Club in writing asking for an exclusion. Any submission request for exclusion must be in writing and must detail the reason for the exclusion request. On the basis of the submission, the Committee will assess each request and make any necessary accommodations. A submission does not guarantee exclusion, but efforts will be made to appreciate any special circumstance. Mail your exclusion request here.

A tip for our Coaches from your Equipment Officer:
"Ball Care" - please use a well lubricated needle into the needle valve of your balls each time you have to pump them up. Always select the finer needle (see below) to do the job as it tends to leave the seal in the valve in much better shape. And, please let us know the moment you have any problems with any of the issued kit, as it is much easier to sustain a high level of quality in all the gear if it is kept in top condition throughout the Season.
Also, please dispose of any of the 'red hand pumps' that were distributed as free supplied a couple of years ago. We have identified these pumps as a destroyer of good balls.
We are in the process of releasing a range of new high quality balls that will not tolerate the abuse from such needles - please use a proper small-gauge thin needle into the valve - always...
Thanks.
